Angie M. Santiago, CBCP
The first time I watched The Fixer, Winston Wolf, appear on Pulp Fiction, I laughed at how much our work was similar, minus me working for criminals. Whether it is working with a group of leaders or community organizers who have reached a stalemate or transforming a program from the throes of failure, communities and organizations reach out to me to help them work through issues that cause untenable outcomes.
Time after time I return to address the same broken systems, processes, risks, or failed outcomes. Leaders mitigate risks based on executive directives or compliance requirements instead real threats or operational vulnerabilities. Managers are underfunded, understaffed, and unprepared to plan for operational vulnerabilities or disruptions. Then when a disruption occurs, communities are impacted by lack of reliable information, a service, or product(s) the organization or agency provides. Cascading failures lead to lack of work, food, healthcare, medicine, school, or safety. After the dust settles, the organization then mitigates as an exercise of rebranding or litigious self-preservation rather than addressing the systemic root cause(s).
It is possible to implement programs to meet compliance or governance goals and pass your audits or certifications only to discover during an active event, that you were not really ready. Why? Was it due to conflicting objectives? Is your program designed to meet compliance and governance requirements or operational resilience?
I mapped and analyzed conflicts and disparities between the US and international security or disaster standards and frameworks as a basis of my work. Leveraging data, collaborative relationships, state of the art platforms and tools, my crew of diverse experts will work with your teams to understand your organization, its mission, and culture. Together we'll co-design programs to improve security, emergency, or disaster planning, response, and long-term recovery in an inclusive, transparent, and culturally relevant manner while maintaining or exceeding your governance goals.
If your operations or programs could use another perspective or a Fixer, take a look at our offerings.
Peace,
